Get more money – Shortage of skilled workers drives up german apprentice wages!

In response to the shortage of apprentices and skilled workers, apprentice wages have risen by up to 25 percent. But there are big differences between the sectors which are shown here very detailed.

In this evaluation of 20 collective bargaining sectors by the Economic and Social Science Institute (WSI) of the Hans Böckler Foundation, which is close to the trade unions.

“The collective bargaining parties are responding here to falling training numbers and an increasing shortage of skilled workers, which cannot be countered without a significant improvement in remuneration levels,”

said the head of the WSI’s collective bargaining archive, Thorsten Schulten.

He added, however, that in order to increase the attractiveness of certain apprenticeship occupations, it is urgently necessary to strengthen collective bargaining agreements.

In recent years, the number of new apprenticeship contracts had dropped massively.

So far, things are not looking any better for the next apprenticeship year starting in late summer:

By the end of June, slightly fewer applicants had again registered with the employment agencies and job centers. At the same time, there are more and more young unskilled workers.

In general there is a gap when you look at the wages between the branches and the regional differences in germany.

• The southern parts of germany pay higher loans then in the nothern and middelt parts,

• In bigger cities you earn more than in rural areas and

• In bigger companies you can get a higher wage than in smaller and middle sized companies.
