German authorities recognize more and more foreign professional qualifications - Nurses, care people, doctors, engineers and other professional groups.

In 2022, around 52,300 professional qualifications from abroad were recognized in Germany.
That is significantly more recognized degrees than a year earlier.
The number of foreign vocational qualifications recognized in Germany rose more strongly again last year: in 2022, this amounted to around 52,300 qualifications, according to the Federal Statistical Office.
This is an increase of 11% compared to the previous year. In 2021 and 2020, the increases were significantly weaker at 5% each.
35,400 or around two-thirds of all recognized vocational qualifications in 2022 were in the field of medical healthcare professions.
This represents an increase of 13 % compared with the previous year.
The ranking of the most frequently recognized occupations has also hardly changed:
It continues to be led by health care nurses with 18,500 recognitions. Physicians, engineers, nurses, teachers and educators follow at a considerable distance.
There are professional qualifications from more than 170 countries recognized
since 2016, the number of procedures leading to a positive conclusion has almost doubled.
According to the Federal Statistical Office, 26,200 vocational qualifications acquired abroad were recognized – either as fully equivalent or equivalent to a qualification acquired in Germany to a limited extent.
